Sweet Tapioca (2023) is based on the Chinese tradition of making and eating tangyuan during Dongzhi (Winter Solstice Festival). Present in this piece are motifs of non-traditional balls such as boba and dango.

A headless adventurer's journey to retrieve her head that has been cursed to drift with the clouds in the sky.Main Characters
Irianne (矞漣) - a reluctant adventurer who's only out there to seek a way to get her head back
Cahaya (茶颯) - Irianne's tiny but lightning-fast bird familiar
Xilvain (秀彬) - an adventuring Myel (迷耳族), a humanoid species with extremely sensitive hearing, who accompanies Irianne in her journey

...literal marbles. These marbles are magical artifacts scattered across the kingdom during a failed robbery attempt on the Sky Courier transporting them.This story follows Gairah, a fledgling adventurer who has decided to join in the kingdomwide hunt for marbles.Main Characters

Wise Dragon (龙哲) - A yellow dragon wrapped around a giant pansophic tree, who can only share the tree's prophetic messages through codes and riddles to Oatheans lest fates become unstable.
Laura (龙桂) - sister of the Wise Dragon, excels in illusory magic

Marty & Marcovy
Marty and Marcovy is a series of nonlinear episodic comic shorts about housemates Marty ('more tea') and Marcovy ('more coffee').Marty and Marcovy were once strangers living in the same neighbourhood whose lives rarely intersected. Due to bureaucratic mishaps with the postal service which frustratingly never got rectified, they kept getting each other's parcels by mistake. Mutually finding it a pain to keep switching parcels, they agreed on a solution, that is to move in together.Slice-of-life, with bits of absurd fantasy and bites of vegetarian food.Characters
Marty (麻迪) - a laidback oddball, but take his tea away and he becomes more solemn and rigid than Marcovy
Marcovy (麻伽威) - a rule-stickler workaholic, but deprive him of coffee and he turns into a more erratic weirdo than Marty
Halya (海姜) - Marty's sister, a gal as sweet and spicy as ginger milk tea
Angie Ding (丁艳琦) - an energetic postal worker who may be dyslexic...
Ryan Cai (蔡良) - a guy-next-door who's as chill as a cooling herbal tea

I started designing the characters and stories when I was still in school.Zhenhui and Liyan are friends with a shared childhood love for fantasy books. As children, Liyan preferred fairytales with happily-ever-afters, while Zhenhui leant towards urban legends and the paranormal. Biyou (碧悠), a.k.a. Miss Ink was a character I designed back in 2014. She's a mermaid-like character except instead of a fish tail, she has an ink brush for a tail. Her Chinese name is a play on the characters 笔 (bi: pen/brush) and 游 (you: swim/play)
Quick character concepts without roles in my story projects.From left to right:
◇ Their dream was to be a warrior superhero, but the powers-that-be bestowed them ✰magical girl powers✰ instead. Making the best of their situation, they unravelled the big front bow of their assigned outfit to wear as a scarf like their favourite superhero. Refusing to use magical girl powers, they use their wand as a versatile melee weapon instead.
◇ Art Union challenge to design a fairy based on personalised themes (evil, butterfly wings, sword-wielding, mushroom outfit). I created an evil cannibal mushroom fairy that eats all kinds of shrooms, with wings based on Greta oto (glasswing butterfly) wings folded into a cape. She wields a sword to cut down other mushrooms.
